“Breaking The Line” – video
A subtle skill that surfers can purposely develop, is to “break-the-line” as they surf across a wave. That is, change a horizontal surfing trajectory into a more vertical trajectory to fit the speed and shape of a wave being ridden. Learning to “Break the line” provides a surfer the opportunity to perform a great set-up bottom turn, creating “depth” in the process, that can be the start of a sequence of critical manoeuvres that demonstrate risk and commitment in a more vertical orientation. – This video can be found in the “Surfing University” section of the dashboard, in the “Decision Making” Section.
“Assuming The Set Position – Where Should the Inside Hand Reach?” – video
When surfers enter a flat section of a wave that links between two manoeuvre opportunities, surfers should surf rail-to-rail to maintain their speed and flow, rather than “hopping” or “bouncing” through the section. “Bouncing” should be the last option used, never the first. – This video can be found in the “Surfing University” section of the dashboard, in the “Decision Making” section.
